Follow-up to "One Example...Coming Up"

I appreciate the comments encouraging me to take dinner to the neighbors, but to be honest, and I hope this doesn't sound ugly, cuz I don't mean it that way, I didn't need any encouragement past this comment from Kim, who I believe God used to speak to me.

(But first let me fill you in, because without the following information, the comment won't mean as much).
~I buy Italian bread just about every week at the grocery store. And I usually get "Rosemary & Herb". For some reason, this past Monday, I got French bread instead.
~Yesterday, as I was making dinner, I decided to do a little prep for the rest of the week. I discovered I had quite a bit of extra chicken. More than I thought I had and more than we'll need before it goes bad.

So here's the comment...in case you didn't already read it.

"The gospel being played out is in your near future with a lovely chicken casserole and crunchy loaf of french bread. Just pop in. If they have too much then they can pop it in the freezer. Chances are, they'll appreciate it and know that you meant what you said. The gospel is not just words on a page. Do it."

Here's the thing. I don't believe in coincedences...especially in this type of situation. I just felt like God called me on my cell phone and said, "Greta, go take those people some food. And don't worry about whether or not they need it, they need to see you care. No excuses will do. Be obedient."

This may seem a little dramatic for most of y'all. Sorry if it does, but it is real for me.

I just got back from dropping off dinner. I talked to the husband and the wife's mother. Tey were both very nice. She seems real sweet and told me I should come back over sometime and let them play with the baby (Sam). I didn't launch into any heavy spiritual stuff...it wasn't the right time. I just told them I want to help and am available for whatever, and that we are praying for them both.

And we are.

Greta, Thanks so much for sharing this story! I just want you to know how much I appreciated hearing about how you're living out the gospel...it is something that we were just talking about in our LifeGroup tonight and just like it wasn't a coincidence that you bought French bread this week, it wasn't a coincidence that God orchestrated this at this time and allowed me to read about it!

I was hoping you would post a follow up! That is a really cool story. I read your comment the other day to Quinn and he thought the same thing. I think it's crazy that God uses little 'ol human beings to carry out His sovereign will. And that chicken casserole and crunchy french bread was part of that plan.

greta! way to go, thats exactly right. This reminds me of when my dad had cancer. I remember people brought us food pretty often. It was so nice because the last thing my mom could think about was cook for the three of us kids. We really appreciated it. But at the same time, my mom NEVER would have asked anyone to do it, just would say she has everything under control....so good decision! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEE your blog. its bookmarked. You remind me of america, you and your CUTE CUTE family there it sounds cheesy but true....i keep up to date!!!! cheers, kristin

Ok. I'm gonna have to say (as masculinely as possible) this template definitely fits you better than the old one. Props on new visuals.
