It's a Sign of the Times

If you didn't know already, we didn't find out that Sam was a boy until he popped out and showed us in living color.

Yes, it was hard to wait (but not that hard after the 20 week ultrasound, when you can normally find out the gender).
Yes, it was fun not knowing.
Yes, not finding out does make some thing difficult...like appropriately decorating a nursery.

Which brings me to the point of this post.

In less than a month, my baby will be 1.
1!? A walking running, full-of-personality, almost-talking 1-year old.
That little tiny peanut that used to be in me will be 1. (Insert slanted frowny face).

Because we didn't know whether our little bundle of joy would be a boy or a girl, we painted the "baby's room" light aqua and decorated with black and white.

Now...that just seems so baby.

So, we're painting! (Pictures to come). We're painting and moving Sam into a bigger room. I guess it's just a sign that he's not my little baby anymore, although, really...he always will be.

Aww, I know how you feel....aside form the being in me part :)

Richard got a little upset with me last week when I informed him Shiloh is no longer a baby now. I will say the anticipation of the 1st birthday is harder to handle than the actual day, at least for me it was. I think because I half expected her to wake up on her birthday and look different...or something! But, of course, she was the same baby I had put in the crib the night before.

I, too, dreaded that first birthday with my first two, and am trying to dig my heals in and make time go more slowly for my third (who is already 8 mos old!!)However, by the time you have a second one, you realize that they are stil babies long after their first birthday.

And of course, you can always do what we did - by accident. You could be pregnant with baby #2 on your baby's first birthday!

I mean, "dig my HEELS in" - not HEALS. :)

I've only recently grudgingly stopped referring to my niece as a toddler, being as she is 5 it was getting a tad ridiculous to keep clinging to that one. But no matter what she will always be my baby niecey!

Oooh, I know the feeling. Mac graduated to a twin bed a few months ago, and his walls go nicely with his new bedspread, but his curtains are going to have to go the way of the attic. I sewed them to custom-match his nursery bedding. I'm really dragging my feet on it, because I know that then his room will really truly look like a "little boy" room. :o(

i can't believe he's going to be one already. it seems like just yesterday we were taking a poll as to whether "little carter" was going to be a girl or boy. this year has flown by - but hasn't it been the best year of your life? i know it has been for me (well, 10 months atleast for me)
