But I do like to recycle. That's right, I like to. It's my one thing that I feel like I'm doing consistently to off-set the amount of trash we generate.
Here's the thing though. Our small recycling bin gets filled up by about Wednesday or Thursday. Maybe the powers that be would provide us with another bin but for some reason, it's really difficult to figure out how to contact them. Either way, I made a wonderful discovery at Target the other day. They sell recycling bins (you know, the authentic blue ones). And on top of that, these bins have fold-over lids so you could close said box and keep all your cardboard and newspapers from getting soggy.
Interested? They're near the Rubbermaid storage bins. And I'm interested to know, how many of y'all recycle? If you're reading this through a feed burner, just click here and scroll down to answer the poll (it's on the right sidebar).

I've considered buying one of those bigger recycling bins because ours fills up so quickly, too. Luckily, at some point during the week, I usually buy a big box of something that I can fill with the stuff that won't fit.
Once we started recycling I found that we actually have more recyclables than we do trash!
Can you guys recycle glass, or do you have to take it somewhere yourself? We have to take it downtown which is a pain. Wish we could just toss it in with everything else.
great idea about the mousse...
i think we were leaving comments simultaneously on each others blogs :)
I recycle and I take it to the Snellville recycling center. They have those bins at all kinds of places...including ikea! At the moment I am just using some regular rubbermaid containers that I had from when we moved, but I plan to have an entire recycling system eventually...with labels and everything! So...it's more of a hassle because I have to actually take the stuff to the recycling center, but they'll take more than the recycling center through the garbage company will.
I love to recycle and I can't wait to teach my kids about recycling...because I'm a dork.
i grew up not recycling. i love my parents, but even today, they don't do a thing about recycling. met & married eric - that all changed. we just recently started recycling paper & cardboard too which is great! i like the idea of getting a covered bin. right now, we keep it all in a bag in our linen closet and put it out when it's time.
we also compost (we're becoming "that" eco-friendly couple. it's kind of sick. but i swear i don't push it on others!) and that coupled with the recycling cuts down on our trash so much that we really only take the trash out once every week & a half to two weeks unless it's super stinky. it's fantastic :)
we're also planning to use g-diapers... which are flushable and/or you can compost for the wet ones. my own post to come on that... eventually :)
We recycle, and one of my favorite things about Dallas is that they give us a trash-can sized recycle bin. It's awesome. They pick up recycling once a week, and trash twice. It's a a great incentive to recycle when all you have to do it throw your trash in the blue can instead of the gray one.
You know I recyle. I wish we had a trash can size recycling bin like Camille. Although I recylcle and actually like, I have to admit that if I had to take it somewhere every time it gets full I probably wouldn't do it. So for those people who, I appreciate that you are more dedicated than me. I just went to Target tonight and forgot to look/get the container. I'll be back soon so I will try to remember then.
We don't... We used to, but they don't pick up recyclables at current residence. And, it's arguments like this that make me less motivated to seek it out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNJ__Pw_jaY (part 1), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZQ41cceCD8&feature=related (part 2) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0JtRIdamXs&feature=related (part 3). (Warning: the language in the videos is pretty horrendous...). I'm not saying that I fully buy everything they say, but it definitely provides food for thought. If you want the g-rated, more nerdy academic argument, go here - http://people.clemson.edu/~wahoo/211/recycling%20myths.pdf.
We recycle...but they don't actually "recycle" per say in Wilmington...the trash/recycle center is a few miles down the road, so we bring cardboard boxes home from the store, fill them and take them ourselves! They are impressed with us there, I just wish they would send someone out to pick it up!
