Dear Hiccups,
You have now plagued me for about 5 or 6 months. It started off that you were offending me personally. You disrupted me at just about every chance you got, especially during my sleep. Which, admittedly wasn't rock-solid to begin with. You disrupted the child inside so much so that my whole belly would jiggle as you repeated yourself, over, and over, and over and then over again later the same day.
Now, hiccups, you have become my arch-nemisis. You see, when said child is trying to lie still and go to sleep, you deem it the appropriate time to show up again. Why, oh why must you do this? Don't you know I'm trying to train this child to fall asleep? Often times, there is only a small window of time in which this can happen successfully.
So thanks. Thanks a lot for horning your way into my life. Thanks for being that annoyance that cannot be made to go away. Because while some tried and true methods for getting rid of you, like eating a spoonful of peanut butter or drinking water while leaning forward with your head tipped over, have worked for me in the past. Those just really aren't feasible with a 3 week old.
Now, off you go.
Thanks,
Greta

you make me smile :)
"horning your way into my life" - love the syntax
and also i am sorry. i know it must be intensely frustrating! praying they will go away...
aaron gets SO MAD at his hiccups. and they make him spit up. it's maddening. sometimes i give him a little gripe water to help, but 99% of the time i just wait it out and let him fuss. mean, mean old hicc-um-ups.
I think Ali may be plagued her entire life with them. Literally every time she starts laughing hard she gets them - to the point now that when she starts laughing, she goes ahead and says, "I'm going to get the hiccups!!".
Hope yours go away soon, annoying little boogers.
