Is it the Rain?

Sam is a great sleeper.

There, I said it.

Sometimes I hesistate to talk about it or I'm tempted to apologize to moms whose children have other skillz. But I don't expect them to apologize for their child's expanding vocab, desire to snuggle, ability to wave bye-bye or blow kisses so I won't either!

I do have to comment on today...it's weird. Sam slept about an hour later this morning than normal. Because of that, he didn't take a morning nap. I had a dentist appointment so he stayed with a neighborhood friend and played with her daughter who just turned 1. (Apparently we need to get him a Cozy Coupe b/c he lurved her's).

Anyway, he was a tad overtired since I picked him up around 1:30...this is when he normally goes down for an afternoon nap. He settled down in the car on the short ride home (under 2 minutes). He has now been asleep for over 2 1/2 hours. Rarely do we encounter a nap of this length.

Days like today are great but they just beg the question, "what was different?" Is it the rain? Is he having a growth spurt? Was it the fact that I gave him some of what we ate for dinner last night? Bruschetta Chicken Bake

To those questions, I answer, it MUST be the rain since I've had the overwhelming desire to take a nap all day too.

Ali is a really awesome sleeper also, and, like you, I am always trying to figure out the magic formula for the Grade A naps. After 19 months of study and analysis, my conclusion is that I'm not sure that there really is a logic and reason behind one nap being better than another. It's sad, but I have been completely unable to tie together any conclusive findings regarding her naps. And believe me, if anyone were to overanalyze, it would be me. For your sake, I hope that Sam has more predictable napping tie-ins!!

I know the feeling about wanting to apologize for a good sleeper. I have two of them. Josh is 3 months and has been sleeping through the night(8pm-6am) for almost two months. And Danny will take a 2 1/2 hour nap every afternoon. I usually just make them play hard, so they sleep well!

Shiloh is a sleeper also (8 pm-7:30am). I've come to the conclusion this is due to the fact that she goes nonstop during the day!
