Testosterone, and Lots of It

We had our "big" ultrasound today.
And we found out we're having a third boy!

I, now, join the ranks of my dad, who was outnumbered by his wife, three daughters, and any pets we ever had.

Right before the ultrasound, I was thinking boy and I believe Bob was thinking (or maybe just hoping for) a girl. I was just a tad disappointed, but not even really disappointed. I think he was a little bit too but we are both really excited about having 3 boys. We LOVE the 2 we already have. They're precious! I told Bob he must have so much testosterone that he can't produce an X chromosome.

I had kind of gotten it in my mind that this would be my last pregnancy. However, we've been saying if this one is a boy, it's a good argument for a 4th kid.

A 4th kid?! Right now, that's a very overwhelming thought. Thankfully, we didn't see any twins today. Can you imagine?!

Anyway, just wanted to update everyone who hasn't already heard. Oh, and we're glad we went ahead and found out so that we have a little time to get used to the idea...although really, I think it only took us both about 15 minutes to get really excited!

Bring on the testosterone!

SO exciting! There's something so special about the bond between a mom and her sons that just can't be beat. Now, you'll have that x3!

i agree with your last commenter. there is something incredibly wonderful about having sons (not to make any daughter-only families feel like they're missing out! it's just that, like you, i grew up with two sisters and this boy thing is all new and marvelous!). you haven't even gotten to my favorite (so far) stage.

before this spring, i had almost NO interest in sports. but, to watch my son make a double play on his little league team, or my other son score five goals at soccer...it's beautiful. it's amazing.

i think about being a mother-in-law all the time. so, don't think i'm the overbearing mother who won't let her sons go, but...

...the other day, we were at a Memorial Day BBQ, and someone said something like, "oh, you have a lovely family." and i couldn't help myself and said, "my boys are so handsome. i don't know which one i'd marry." and, it's true. i'm kind of in love with them.

i would LOVE to have a third boy. i had a longing for another son before i was preggers with Phoebe. i don't know what that's all about. a fourth is NOT crazy, but a fifth?! i don't think that's in the cards.

okay. i've gone on too long. but, i must repeat: baby boys are wonderful, but it even gets better.

oh...and i read your news on molly's blog first, btw! hilarious!

Congrats Greta! My husband and I, Kevin, used to go to SMIC and we were in SS with you and Bob. I have been a behind the scenes follower, when time allows-haha! Well too have 3 boys and love every minute of it. Our boys are 5, 3, and 1. We also said that 3 would be it, but after #3 boys we said well maybe we should go for 4-boys of course b/c obviously we dont produce girls either :) Well just wanted to welcome you to the 3 boys club!

I just love boys and I only have one. When Landen was little, I always found myself totally wiped out by his constant stream of energy and then he grew up a little. Let me just say, as fun as they are when they're little, nothing can beat the five year mark and beyond. Just being able to watch him becoming a young man and participating in all sorts of different sports, well it's been an awesome experience! Just think of all the ballgames you'll get to go to!! Congrats :)
