Grey Turns 1 At The End Of What May Be The Fastest Year Of Our Lives

I can hardly believe we were doing this one year ago. What an exciting and special beginning to your life in our family, Grey!

This year has flown by. Your birth is such a vivid memory for me that it feels like it was just a few months ago. Couple that with the fact that we found this out about 6 months ago and time seems to be flying by.

You are a precious child. You, just like your big brother, have such a sweet disposition. It seems like you're happy almost all the time...although, when you're not, you definitely let us know. You've got a bit of a temper.

You smile a lot, showing us those cute little gaped teeth. You laugh easily, when you're being tickled, playing peek-a-boo and when Sam is trying to make you laugh. (I love that.)

Being that you are the younger brother, you take a lot of bumps, having toys taken away, getting knocked down, etc. I think all that will work to your benefit later...you just don't get that upset about it...well, not yet.

It's so neat to see how you've changed in your first year of life.

anything soft and fuzzy, your blanket, stuffed animals, etc.

Your dad and I call you:

Greyzilla

Little Guy

Little Buddy

Baby Grey

And Sam calls you:

Little Baby

Buddy

As in, "it's ok Little Baby" or "hey there Buddy."

I love that you like to be held so much, that you lay your head down on my shoulder before you go to bed, how you take the paci from us to put it in your mouth, that you already know how to play chase with Sam, the way you laugh when we shuffle loudly behind you, that you'll eat just about anything, your gap-toothed grin and your pretty blue eyes.

When you've only known one child, it's difficult to imagine what another baby will be like before they're born. While I was still pregnant with you, Dad and I both just pictured you looking and acting like Sam. There are definitely similarities but you guys have lots of differences too. You have Grandma Margaret's mouth (Ebee's mom) and I think you look a lot like Ya-Ya (my sister). Still, tons of people tell us they think you and Sam look just alike. It's been so fun seeing Sam slip into the role of big brother and I'm excited to see how you do the same.

You are such a blessing to our family, Grey. We all love you so much and are incredibly blessed to get to watch you grow up. Happy birthday little guy!
