No Crying This Time, And Sam Was Excited Too

Last year was Sam’s first year in any kind of Mother’s Day Out or Pre-school type setting. It was a pretty easy decision for us to make since we knew Bo would be coming in the Fall and I’d have a lot going on. We also see a lot of value in exposing our kids to different social situations and helping them learn to obey authority…not just the authority of their parents.

So, last year, the first day was a little rough. Sam whined a lot and I cried as soon as I pulled away. In my defense, the kid didn’t even look back as he walked into the school. Sad face. I thought I’d be fine because I was looking forward to enjoying some time with just Grey…but noooo, I was that mom. Also, Sam complained every.single.morning last year during the Fall “semester.” All that changed during the Spring “semester,” but I was still expecting it yesterday.

Turns out, he’s a pro now. There was no complaining whatsoever yesterday and he was actually excited to go. I really am proud of him. The kid isn’t big on change, he does so much better when he is extensively prepped about a new situation. But he has a new teacher this year, a bunch of new kids in his class and he just acted like he was going back to his old routine, no biggie.SAM_1732

Oh, and I didn’t cry either. Grey was really the only one who had a hard time. He must’ve asked me 20 times yesterday, “Bun go? Ran go? Go get Bun???” (Sometimes he calls Sam bun…sometimes it sounds more like ran.) I love that. These little guys are such great friends.

So here’s to a great 2nd year of school for Sam and some real good quality time for me and the younger two.

Oh, I am so glad he did better. It sure does make it easier on us moms when they aren't afraid or upset, doesn't it. And that's so cute that Grey asked for him all day. Averi is the same way. It's like they don't know what to do without their big siblings telling them what to do all day:)

I'm so glad it went smoothly. Sam is so cute, and it's hard to believe how big he is!! Beck looks lost every time Vale goes to school. I'm sure he'll get used to it, but I love seeing how much he loves her. Why in the world does Grey call him Bun? That's hilarious!
