I Believe the Phrase is "It Was Quite a Day"

Mother's Day - check
Birthday - check
Baby Dedication - check
Family in town - check
Good, good friends in town - check

I guess you could say the entire weekend was "quite a weekend". Yesteday just happened to actually be my birthday, Sam's dedication and Mother's Day. As I mentioned before, I count last year as my first Mother's Day because I was pregnant, and there was definitely a baby inside me...so I was already mom. This year was my first real celebrated Mother's Day and it was a good one.

Some of our very best friends came in town Saturday. That was a great birthday gift! D & K are quality people and some of our closest "couple friends", if not the closest. Anyway, they drove over from GA, went out to eat for my birthday dinner and we ended up hanging out on the deck which was perfect. The weather was awesome and it was just nice to visit with them since we don't get to hang out much anymore. They spent the night too which I love because we didn't have to end early so they could go home :).

Sunday was a good day too. Bob wrote me the sweetest "birmoth" card (birthday and mother's day). He's pretty good about bringing a tear to my eye with his cards...blink, blink.
Sam was dedicated at church which was pretty cool and emotional, plus both families were there so we had a big morning. We did Mother's Day lunch at the in-laws and I think everyone enjoyed themselves and the take-out Olive Garden. (Let me just say here that I'd rather break my own pinky than go eat there for Mother's Day...I think. The wait was 2 1/2 hours and everyone was cranky. Does that really sound enjoyable to anyone? Happy Mother's Day!)

I am leading up to something here. The best part of my Mother's Day happened last night. Sam was sitting still on the couch beside me. If you know him, you know he isn't still very much. However, right before bedtime he usually calms down. And recently, he's even gotten a little snuggly. Now he has never been what I'd call a snuggly baby. He'd rather jump and stand than cuddle. But, I think that might be changing a little because last night, while sitting beside me, he leaned his little head over and laid it on my stomach. It was the most precious thing. Maybe because that type of thing doesn't happen much, maybe because it happened on my first "celebrated" Mother's Day which happened to be my birthday. He stayed that way for a little while, then he'd sit back up, then lay his head down, then sit back up. I didn't want to move or talk too loudly for fear that he'd quit but I did get Bob's attention to see. It was just too sweet.

So, thanks to everyone for my birthday and Mother's Day wishes, cards, gifts and time spent together, but most of all, thanks Sam for warming my heart...you are too sweet.

And you and your crew helped make my Mother's Day really special, too! I guess it's because you are a sweet daughter and a precious Mother. It's fun to watch. Love, Mom
